McLaren has officially announced a successor to the F1
McLaren has officially announced a successor to the iconic F1 and will have hyper GT successor complete with a three seat layout and codenamed BP23. The name stands for Bespoke Project 2, with the “3” standing for the number of seats it will have, limited to only 106 examples.
The announcement was that McLaren Special Operations (MSO) would be creating the world’s first Hyper-GT car. BP23 will be the “most exquisitely crafted and luxurious road-going McLaren to date.” A totally bespoke hypercar that combines incredible performance with a design unlike anything you’ve seen before. The designing of the car has already begun and the first model will be out in the early 2019. Future owners of the new car will be working with MSO to create their cars.
McLaren Automotive’s Chief Executive Officer, Mike Flewitt. “We are calling BP23 a ‘Hyper-GT’ because it’s a car designed for longer journeys, but with the high levels of performance and driver engagement expected of any McLaren. A hybrid powertrain will make it one of the most powerful McLarens yet created but the car will also deliver the highest levels of refinement, enabling significant journeys to be undertaken with up to three people aboard.”
